Noel Tabbed an ITA All-American – University of Miami Athletics

CORAL GABLES, Fla. Alexa Noel of the University of Miami women’s tennis team is officially a 2023 ITA All-American, as announced Monday afternoon.

The redshirt sophomore clinched the distinction by earning a seed in the NCAA Singles Championship, as she took the fifth spot in the field. By finishing sixth nationally in the year-end ITA rankings, she met another of the ITA All-America criteria options.

This is the second such honor for Noel, as she previously notched ITA All-America designation in 2021 during her true freshman season at Iowa.

Noel placed top-15 in every spring release of the ITA rankings, including top-eight in each of the last six, and peaked at fifth in the country during her first campaign at The U.

A native of Summit, N.J., Noel went 34-8, including 24-4 in spring play, 20-3 in dual matches (all at No. 1) and 12-1 in ACC competition. She totaled a 23-6 ledger versus ranked foes, including a 3-1 record against the ACC’s other four top-10 finishers. In addition, she reached the NCAA Singles Championship Round of 32.

This is the 10th straight year at least one Miami player registered ITA All-America accolades, a streak that goes back to 2014. The Hurricanes have now been featured on the ITA All-America list in 19 of the last 20 seasons, dating back to head coach Paige Yaroshuk-Tews’ third season in 2004.

Noel is the 32nd individual in program history to earn ITA All-America plaudits, which were first awarded on the women’s side in 1982-83. Their honor is 72nd overall, including the 38th in singles. She is the 17th different Hurricane to earn at least one such designation in singles.

The complete list of ITA All-Americans, in both singles and doubles, can be found HERE. A total of 26 singles players and 15 doubles pairs made the cut.
