No. 19 Florida State Travels to Play Last Two Matches Of Regular Season 

TALLAHASSEE – The 19th-ranked Florida State men’s tennis team travels to play its last two regular season matches this week when it plays No. 16 North Carolina at Chapel Hill Tennis Club at 4:00 p.m. Friday. The Seminoles play No. 13 Duke at 12:00 p.m. on Sunday. 

The Seminoles, who are 17-5 on the season and 8-2 in conference play, enter the final weekend third in the ACC standings.

Florida State is led by junior Antoine Cornut-Chauvinc, who is the No. 4 singles player in the nation. Cornut-Chauvinc enters this week’s match with a 14-3 record with nine of those wins coming against ranked opponents. 

Joshua Dous-Karpenschif is one of five Seminoles with at least 10 wins this spring, posting a 13-2 record on the season, including a 7-0 record at No. 4 and a 3-0 record at No. 5. Dous-Karpenschif is currently on an 11-match unbeaten streak. 

Youcef Rihane, ranked 115th nationally, is 12-5 and has beaten three nationally ranked players so far this year. Rihane is undefeated with a 5-0 record at No. 4 this season. 

Jamie Connel is 13-5 this spring and has won six straight singles matches for Florida State.  

Florida State has won 8 straight matches entering this week’s contests. 

North Carolina is 15-7 on the season and 7-3 in the ACC. The Tar Heels most recently defeated Wake Forest and Clemson. North Carolina has two players in the national singles rankings, led by No. 43 Ryan Seggerman. No. 45 Brian Cernoch is also ranked in singles play. Casey Kania and Seggerman are ranked 17th in doubles play. 

No. 13 Duke is 16-5 on the season and 9-1 in conference play. The Blue Devils most recently recorded a pair of 5-2 victories over No. 23 NC State and No. 13 North Carolina. Duke is led by No. 14 Garrett Johns with Pedro Rodenas and Karl Poling also being ranked in singles. The Blue Devils also have two ranked doubles pairs.
