Florida State Travels For Final Regular Season Matches

TALLAHASSEE – The Florida State women’s tennis team (13-9, 5-6 ACC) has its two final matches of the regular season this weekend, traveling to No. 20 Georgia Tech on Friday and No. 37 Clemson on Sunday.

The Seminoles enter this weekend’s matches ranked 33rd in the national team rankings.

Senior Vic Allen defeated the 109th-ranked Andrea Di Palma of Louisville 6-2, 6-1 at No. 1 singles. Allen is ranked No. 76 in the national singles rankings. Allen and Ellie Schoppe also won 6-1 against FAMU at No. 1 doubles.

Schoppe is ranked 118th in singles, along with Anna Arkadianou who is now ranked 83rd in the nation. Arkadianou and freshman Millie Bissett are also ranked No. 55 in doubles.

Alice Amendola continued her dominance in singles when she won 6-0, 6-1 against Louisville and 6-0, 6-2 against FAMU, both at No. 6 singles.

Georgia Tech is 12-7 on the season and 6-5 in the ACC. Junior Carol Lee has 13 wins at No. 1 singles on the season. Lee is ranked No. 12 in the nation and is one of four Yellow Jackets who are ranked in singles.

The Tigers head into this weekend’s matchup with 15 wins on the season and are 3-8 in the ACC. Clemson is led by Daniella Medveedeva who has 19 wins on the season and is ranked 94th in singles.

Friday’s match against Georgia Tech begins at 4 p.m., and Sunday’s match against Clemson begins at 11:30 a.m. Live stats and video from both matches will be available on Seminoles.com.
