No.16 Florida blanks No.17 Alabama on Sunday Afternoon

GAINESVILLE, FL. – No.16 Florida closed out their home stand with a 4-0 victory against Alabama at the Alfred A. Ring Tennis Complex on Sunday afternoon. The Gators put on an impressive performance, extending their win streak to three ahead of road action.
 
The first win of the day came from duo Qavia Lopez and Carly Briggs as they left Alabama’s Anne Marie Hiser and Priya Nelson scoreless with a 6-0 win. The Crimson Tide responded taking the second match with Klara Milicevic and Ola Pitak defeating Rachel Gailis and Bente Spee 6-4.
Alicia Dudeney and Malwina Rowinska clinched the doubles point for the Gators after a battle with Anna Parkhomenko and Petra Sedlackova. Dudeney/Rowinska snagged a 6-4 victory giving Florida a 1-0 lead ahead of singles.
 
Over on the singles side, Florida left no room for doubt quickly snagging wins against the Crimson Tide. Alicia Dudeney secured the first point to extend the Gators lead with a win over Klara Milicevic. Dudeney won in straight sets posting a 7-5 victory in the first and 6-1 win in the second. Undefeated Gator, No.80 Sara Dahlstrom followed with a victory of her own. Dahlstrom defeated Anne Marie Hiser 6-4,6-3 extending Florida’s lead to 3-0.
 
No.45 Rachel Gailis secured the Gators victory on court one defeating No.83 Petra Sedlackova in straight sets. Gailis took the first set 6-3 and secured the win in a 7-6 tiebreaker. This win marks the third straight win for Florida.
 
Three matches were left unfinished due to UF clinching the win. On Court 3, Carly Briggs was tied up against Ola Pitak 7-6,2-2.  Qavia Lopez led Anna…
