No. 11 USC Women’s Tennis Punches Ticket Into 2024 NCAA Tournament

LOS ANGELES – No. 11 seed USC women’s tennis is set to open up its 2024 NCAA campaign from home this weekend, as the Trojans host Cal Poly in the first round of action on Friday, May 3 at 2 p.m. Grand Canyon and No. 23 San Diego will face off on Friday morning at 11 a.m. Winning teams will square off in the NCAA Second Round at 2 p.m. on Saturday (May 4) to fight for a ticket to the NCAA Super Regional at sites to be determined.
 
The eight teams that advance out of that round will head to Stillwater, Oklahoma for the quarterfinals through national championship. Matches will be played at the Greenwood Tennis Center May 17-19, with the singles and doubles finals to take place thereafter from May 20-25.

11 a.m. — No. 23 San Diego (16-7) vs. No. 58 Grand Canyon (22-2)

ITA RANKINGS UPDATE

The Women of Troy enter this week ranked No. 11 in the country (ITA Computerized Rankings April 23). 

 

Currently, four Trojans appear in the national singles rankings, with sophomore Emma Charney leading USC at No. 30 and junior Grace Piper locked in the No. 62 ranking. Trojan redshirt senior Snow Han sits at No. 90 and fifth-year Eryn Cayetano claimed the No. 96 spot. 

The Women of Troy also boasts two ranked duos in No. 23 Cayetano and Charney and No. 69 Parker Fry and Grace Piper

 

REGULAR SEASON RECAP

USC wrapped up the regular season 17-7 overall and 8-2 in conference play. Sophomore Emma Charney led the Trojans in singles wins this season, tallying 29 so far. In doubles, the No. 69 ranked duo of Parker Fry and Grace Piper lead the way for the Trojans with 25 wins as a pair. 

 

The Women of Troy beat five top-25 ranked teams this season, including No. 2 Michigan and No. 11 Cal on the road.
