No. 10 USC Men’s Tennis Tops Washington 4-1

LOS ANGELES, Calif. – No. 10 USC men’s tennis secured their second victory in two days with their 4-1 win over No. 54 Washington on Saturday afternoon.
 
The Trojans scored the first point of the dual with victories on courts two and three in doubles. Ryan Colby and Stefan Dostanic finished first on court two, defeating Brett Pearson and Ned Suko 6-2, before Karl Lee and Samuel Rubell defeated Han-Chin Lin and Jim Hendrikx 6-3 to secure the point. On court one, Learner Tien and Bradley Frye led No. 58 Cesar Bouchelaghem and Dzianis Zharyn 5-4 when play paused.
 
USC stayed hot as it entered singles play. No. 36 Dostanic drew blood first with a 6-1, 6-3 defeat over Lin on court one. Karl Lee scored the Trojans third point with a 6-1, 6-4 defeat of Pearson on court six to bring the USC within one, before No. 39 Peter Makk clinched the dual on court three with a 6-3, 6-4 win over No. 97 Bouchelaghem. The Trojans led on two courts when play paused, with Tien holding a 7-5, 3-2 adantage on court two, and Lodewijk Weststrate leading 7-6 (1), 2-0 on court four.
 
Washington’s only point came on court five, when Hendrikx defeated Colby 6-2, 6-2.
 
With their win, USC improves to 14-7 on the season with a 4-2 record in conference play, good for third in conference standings. The Trojans will play just two more matches before the Pac-12 tournament: an April 19 match against UCLA, and an April 23 match against Utah. The match against UCLA will take place this Wednesday at 5 p.m. at Marks Tennis Stadium.
