Men's Tennis Hosts Drake Saturday


EAST LANSING, Mich. – Michigan State men’s tennis returns to the MSU Indoor Tennis Center on Saturday, Feb. 18, hosting Drake at 10 a.m.

MSU enters Saturday’s match at 3-4, dropping its last match, 6-1, at No. 23 Louisville on Feb. 12. At Louisville, the Spartans captured the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles, highlighted by freshman Ozan Baris and sophomore Max Sheldon’s 6-3 victory over 14th-ranked Natan Rodrigues and Fabien Salle. At No. 2 doubles, fifth-year senior Anthony Pero and junior Reed Crocker moved to 5-0 on the season with a 7-6(7) win over Louisville’s David Mizrahi and Matthew Fung. 

Drake posts a 6-4 record heading into Saturday’s match, most recently posting a dominant 7-0 victory against Purdue on Feb. 11. The Bulldogs’ Jeremy Schifris ranks 68th in the latest ITA Singles rankings.  

Drake will play Western Michigan on Friday, Feb. 17 before heading to East Lansing. 

Up next, the Spartans have a two-week break before hosting Western Michigan on Friday, March 3 at the MSU Indoor Tennis Center for a 2 p.m. match.
