Men’s Tennis Earns 4-3 Win At Wisconsin

MADISON, Wisc. – The Penn State men’s tennis team posted a 4-3 win over Wisconsin on Friday. The Nittany Lions captured four singles matches to earn the victory.
 
DOUBLES
At the top doubles spot, Miko Eala and Stefan Simeunovic paired up against Wisconsin’s Michael Minasyan and Gabriel Huber, but fell 7-5.
 
On court two, Jack Martuccio and Nolan Ranger competed against the Badgers’ Matthew Fullerton and Tomas Zlatohlavek. The Nittany Lion pair dropped a 6-3 result.
 
At No. 3, Ari Cotoulas and Alex Sterin won by forfeit.
 
SINGLES
Sterin won by forfeit at No. 6 to even the match score at 1-1.
 
Eala, ranked No. 79 in the ITA Poll, competed at No. 1 against Minasyan. The Penn State senior won 6-0, 6-3 to pick up his 10th win of the Spring and improved to 6-1 against Big Ten opponents.
 
Simeunovic played on court two against Huber, capturing a straight-set victory, 6-3, 6-2.
 
With the match score tied at 3-3, Martuccio won his first set on court five, 7-6 (5), in a tiebreaker against Collin Beduhn. He earned a 6-3 win in the second set to clinch his match and the overall match point.
 
Ranger fell 6-1, 6-3 on court three against Zlatohlavek, while Cotoulas dropped a 6-1, 6-2 match on court four.
 
UP NEXT
The Nittany Lions finish the regular season on Sunday at No. 58 Nebraska. The match is set to begin at 1 p.m. at the Dillion Tennis Center.
