McCartney Kessler Earns ITA All-American Honors


Kessler’s All-American status marks the third honor of her career.

 

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – For the third time in her career, McCartney Kessler has earned Intercollegiate Tennis Association All-American honors for her efforts on the court, the ITA announced Monday afternoon.
 
Kessler, who ended the season ranked No. 10 in the ITA singles rankings, qualified for the NCAA Singles Championship where she advanced to the round of 32 after defeating No. 45 Solymar Colling of San Diego: 6-1, 6-1. She fell in the second round to No. 26 Connie Ma of Stanford.
 
The Calhoun, Ga., native, on her way to being named the 2022 Southeastern Conference Player of the Year, was dominant all season. In addition to earning First Team All-SEC honors, Kessler recorded the best singles record for UF at 21-8 (18-5 in dual matches; 12-1 in SEC), winning 13-straight singles victories from Feb. 12-Apr. 8, along with a team-best 14 ranked-victories. She claimed two top-10 singles victories as well.
 
Kessler went 18-7 in doubles contests (17-6 in dual matches; 8-3 SEC), going 10-5 at the top position and 7-1 at three, while earning three ranked wins. She was named the SEC Player of the Week on Apr. 18 and owns the 31st-most total victories in Florida history with 181.
 
The Calhoun, Ga., native is now a three-time All-American and three-time First Team All-SEC honoree, also boasting a second team honor from the 2018-19 campaign. With her Player of the Year honor, she is the ninth Gator in program history to earn the award and first since the 2016 season.
