KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee women’s tennis team wrapped up its fourth day of action at the ITA Ohio Valley Regional Championships Sunday afternoon.
Competing in the singles semifinals, Elza Tomase fell 3-6 and 3-6 to Vanderbilt’s Bridget Stammel.
“There were a lot of good things that came from this tourney for us, said Head Coach Alison Ojeda. “Our team is good and capable of doing some damage this spring.”
In the doubles semifinals, Esther Adeshina and Sofia Cabezas could not hold off Kentucky’s Elizabeth Eades and Lidia Gonzales. The Big Orange pair was defeated 4-6 and 4-6.
“As a team, we met after the tournament to discuss exactly where we are and where we want to go, Ojeda added. “The vision is clear and now we go to work more motivated than we were before the tournament.”
The Vols are back in action next weekend as they host the UT Home Invitational. The tournament kicks off on Friday, Oct. 27 and will wrap up on Sunday, Oct. 29 at Goodfriend Tennis Center.
