Huskies Sweep Six Singles Matches From Cougars


SEATTLE – The final day of the Husky Invitational saw the Dawgs go six-for-six in singles matches against rival Washington State at the Nordstrom Tennis Center. Overall for the weekend, the Huskies had an impressive 21-3 record in singles
 
Washington had eight singles matches on the agenda today, six against the Cougars and two against Portland.
 
Sarah-Maude Fortin, Hikaru Sato, Jennifer Kerr, Ashley Chang, and Melissa Sakar all had straight set wins against the visitors from Pullman. Astrid Olsen went back and forth with Maxine Murphy, pulling away in the third for a 6-3, 2-6, 6-1 win.
 
UW split its two matches against the Pilots. Yolanda Lin took a 4-6, 6-1, (10-8) win over Meagan Pearson, while freshman Erika Matsuda dropped a 6-1, 6-4 match to Alaia Rubio Perez.
 
The Huskies next will head to ITA Northwest Regionals next week at Stanford.
