Hokies drop second match of the weekend to Marshall


Huntington, W.Va. – The Hokies drop their second match of the season on the road, 4-3, to Marshall on Sunday, Feb. 4. 
 
The Hokies dropped their first doubles point of the season to the Herd. Semra Aksu and Erika Cheng battled but ultimately fell short, dropping the set 6-4. Charlotte Cartledge and Laima Frosch fell 6-0, while Katie Andreini and Dariya Radulova were down 5-0 before the match was called. 
 
Frosch recorded a singles point for the Hokies as she picked up a 7-6, 6-4 win on Court 4 over Rieke Gillar. Andreini started with a strong 6-4 first-set win before dropping the second set 7-6. She finished winning the third set tiebreak 17-15 to secure another singles win this season over Johanna Strom. 
 
Cheng’s match was played out to an eight-point pro set, as she picked up an 8-3 win over Andjela Lopicic.  
 
UP NEXT: 
The Hokies return to the Burrows-Burleson Tennis Center on Saturday, February 10, at 1 p.m. as they take on Appalachian State.
