BLACKSBURG – The Hokies come up short against No. 23 Florida State on Friday afternoon.
The Seminoles opened with wins on Courts 1 and 2 to clinch the doubles point. Charlotte Cartledge and Özlem Uslu had good momentum on Court 3 but the match was called at the 4-4 mark.
Florida State clinched the match after straight-set wins on Courts 2, 4, and 5.
In the three unfinished matches, Uslu on Court 1 had a one-set advantage after a gritty 7-5 first-set win over No. 29 Vic Allen. On Court 3, Semra Aksu was leading No. 124 Anna Arkadianou in the third set, 3-2. Laima Frosch on Court 5 was in a tightly contested second-set battle with Florida State’s Laura Putz.
UP NEXT: The Hokies are at home for Senior Day and their final regular season match on Sunday, April 14 at 1 p.m. against Miami.
