INDIAN WELLS, Calif.Andrew Fenty, a fifth-year senior on the University of Michigan men’s tennis team, was awarded the 2023 Universal Tennis Foundation Hurd Award it was announced on the Tennis Channel on Sunday (March 12).

Fenty was on hand to accept the honor in Indian Wells, Calif., the site of the Indian Wells Masters. The award has been presented since 2017 and includes a $100,000 grant to assist young American players transiting from college to elite international competition.

The winningest player in Michigan program history with 202 combined wins, Fenty is one win away from his 100th career singles victory. Early this season, he became the first Wolverine to record 100 doubles victories. Fenty is currently ranked No. 6 in singles with a 25-4 record this season, highlighted by a 17-match win streak. He is 5-2 when playing against ranked opponents in singles. Fenty and partner Gavin Young are ranked No. 9 in the doubles rankings with a 19-6 mark. The duo won nine straight matches this fall.

An All-American in both singles and doubles, Fenty has been ranked nationally in doubles and reached the ITA Fall Nationals with three different partners during his Michigan career. His highest doubles ranking was No. 2.

The 2020 B1G Player of the Year, Fenty was both the B1G Rookie of the Year and the ITA Freshman of the Year in 2019. Fenty is a three-time first-team All-Big Ten award winner.
