NASHVILLE, Tenn. — The Vanderbilt women’s tennis team finished No. 2 and had five singles players and three doubles pairings ranked in Ohio Valley Regional year-end rankings, the Intercollegiate Tennis Association announced in a news release.
As a team, the Commodores finished No. 2, just behind SEC and in-state rival Tennessee. The Dores finished 16-12 on the season and were selected for the NCAA postseason tournament for the 28th consecutive year.
In singles, five Dores earned a spot in the top 20: Celia-Belle Mohr at No. 1, Bridget Stammel at No. 6, Anna Ross at No. 9, Anessa Lee at No. 10 and Holly Staff at No. 18. Mohr, Stammel and Lee all recorded 30-plus singles win seasons this year.
The three Vanderbilt doubles pairings claimed a spot in the top five. Marcella Cruz and Mohr earned a No. 3 ranking after going 14-4 overall and 9-3 in conference play this season. Mohr and Lee took the No. 4 spot with a 10-1 overall record as a duo. At No. 5 were Ross and Staff, who primarily played in the No. 1 doubles position for the Dores this season.
