'Cats Open Big Ten Tournament with Wisconsin


BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – No. 3-seed Northwestern men’s tennis will face No. 6-seed Wisconsin in the Big Ten Tournament Quarterfinals at IU Tennis Center in Bloomington, Indiana. First serve is scheduled for 3 p.m. CT and will be broadcast on B1G+.

Northwestern enters the Big Ten Tournament on the heels of a 19-8 regular season, securing its most regular season wins since going 24-3 in the 2015-16 regular season. Northwestern’s 9-2 Big Ten record is also its best since 2015-16, when it went 10-1 in league play.Β 

Northwestern held steady at No. 26 in the latest ITA Rankings after splitting a pair of matches to close out the regular season this weekend. In singles, Steven Forman rocketed up to No. 25 after defeating No. 11 Andrew Fenty (Michigan) 6-2, 6-3 and No. 41 Ozan Baris (Michigan State) 6-4, 6-4.

Forman was named Big Ten Men’s Tennis Co-Athlete of the Week for his performance this weekend. He becomes the first ‘Cat to win the award since teammate Trice Pickens claimed it on January 18.
