Cardinal Open Fall Slate at Hoosier Classic


LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville women’s tennis team opened their fall season at the Hoosier Classic Friday morning in Bloomington, Ind.
 
The Cardinals opened the day with six wins in singles. Tatiana Simova defeated Lauren Lemonds from Indiana 6-3, 7-5. Jamilah Snells defeated Ashlie Wilson from Purdue 6-1, 6-2. Cici Xin defeated Emily Flowers from Xavier 7-5, 7-5. Arielle Nealy defeated Emma Jane Barclay from Purdue 6-3, 6-1. Sasha Gorchanyuk defeated Mariajose Hernandez from Northern Kentucky 6-4, 6-4. Tyra Richardson defeated Angela Rinaldi from NKU 6-2, 6-2.
 
UofL also took home six wins in doubles. Simova and Andrea Di Palma, two seniors for the Cardinals, finished 2-0 against NKU (6-2) and Purdue (6-2). Snells and Xin recorded another 2-0 win against Purdue (6-0) and NKU (6-1). The duo of Gorchanyuk and Richardson defeated Xavier (6-2) and NKU (6-3).
 
The Cardinals continue competing at the Hoosier Classic on Saturday and Sunday.
