Vanderbilt Women's Tennis | Vanderbilt Continues NCAA Competition

STILLWATER, Okla. – In the second round of the NCAA Singles Championships on Tuesday, No. 13 Célia-Belle Mohr defeated Pennsylvania’s Gala Mesochoritou.

Mohr started out strong, quickly claiming the first set 6-0. She kept the momentum in the second set, winning the first five games before Mesochoritou responded by grabbing the next two. Mohr ultimately picked up the victory, taking the second set 6-2 and advancing to the Round of 16.

Mohr will take on Oklahoma State’s Ange Oby Kajuru, ranked No. 3 nationally, on Wednesday at 11:30 a.m. Kajuru, a junior for the Cowgirls, boasts a 20-3 overall record for the season.

No. 33 Anessa Lee and Mohr took down Pennsylvania’s Esha Velaga and Eileen Wang on Tuesday in the first round of the NCAA Doubles Championships. It was a tight match, but the duo defeated their Quaker opponents 7-5, 7-5.

The pair will continue to the Round of 16 tomorrow to compete against Oklahoma’s Dana Guzman and Alina Scherbinina, ranked fourth nationally.
