AUBURN, Ala. – Mississippi State women’s tennis dropped a 6-1 decision at seventh-ranked Auburn on Sunday afternoon.
The bright spot for the Bulldogs came as Emmanouela Antonaki scored an upset over No. 46 Ariana Arseneault 6-1, 5-7, 10-5. It marked her 26th ranked career singles win. The win marks Antonaki’s second ranked win of the season and her ninth highest win over a ranked opponent.
Antonaki improves to 16-8 overall and 10-3 during dual-match play.
Alexandra Mikhailuk took the first set 6-2 against Tiger Kaitlyn Carnicella, but Carnicella forced a third set super tiebreaker after taking the second 6-2. Ultimately, Carnicella took the match in the third with a 10-6 victory.
MSU’s Gia Cohen fell to No. 41 Carolyn Ansari 6-0, 6-4, while No. 88 Maria Rizzolo fell to Tiger DJ Bennett 6-1, 6-3.
Emily Surcey was defeated by Agella Okutoyi 6-1, 6-1, and Sydney Hrehor lost to Adeline Flach 6-2, 6-1.
Auburn (13-2, 3-0 SEC) also claimed the doubles point. The 20th-ranked duo of Arseneault and Ansari took down Antonaki and Chloé Cirotte 6-3 while Bennett and Carnicella beat Mikhailuk and Hrehor 6-4.
The Bulldogs fell to 10-5 overall and 0-4 on Southeastern Conference play.

The Bulldogs hit the road to Columbia, Mo. to take on the Missouri on Friday, March 17 at 2 p.m. CT and then travel to Arkansas on March 19 to play the Razorbacks at 12 p.m.
