DURHAM – After advancing to the ACC Championship title match over the weekend, Duke men’s tennis garnered its highest national ranking of the season at No. 11 in the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) poll, the organization announced on Tuesday.
The Blue Devils sit with a 20-6 overall record, including seven wins over top-25 opponents.
The team is led by five players with double-digit dual singles wins, including freshman Pedro Rodenas who holds a team-best 24-2 ledger. The rookie came in at No. 46 in the most recent singles rankings after registering his seventh win over a ranked foe last past weekend. Rodenas is joined by senior Garrett Johns in the rankings as Johns secured the No. 11 spot. The Atlanta, Ga., native leads the team with eight wins over ranked opponents playing on Duke’s top court.
The Blue Devils also feature two doubles pairings in the most recent rankings in Johns/Rodenas (No. 24) and Michael Heller/Andrew Zhang (No. 51).
The NCAA Tournament selection show will be aired live on Monday at 6:30 p.m., on NCAA.com. Potential NCAA Tournament First and Second Rounds dates would be May 6 and 7 on campus sites.
