Beck Tabbed ACC Player of the Week

DURHAM – For the second time this season, Duke women’s tennis senior Chloe Beck has been tabbed ACC Player of the Week, following helping lead the Blue Devils to a pair of ranked wins against No. 7 NC State (4-3) and No. 24 Wake Forest (4-0).

Beck went 2-0 in singles and 1-0 in doubles on the week, both at the No. 1 position.

In singles, Beck registered a 6-3, 6-3 win over No. 18 Diana Shnaider of NC State and posted a 6-1, 6-1 victory over No. 47 Casie Wooten of Wake Forest.  In doubles, Beck helped the Blue Devils clinch the doubles point versus the Wolfpack with a 6-4 victory over 10th-ranked Shnaider and Alana Smith, while teaming with Ellie Coleman.

Beck, who hails from Watkinsville, Ga., guided Duke to a 22-2 overall and 11-1 ACC ledger on the season heading into Friday’s showdown with top-ranked North Carolina.

Ranked No. 4 nationally in singles, Beck is quietly putting together one of the best individual seasons in Blue Devil history. She owns a 29-4 singles mark and 29-4 doubles ledger, while totaling a 10-1 ACC record in singles and 9-1 league record in doubles.  With one more singles and doubles victory, Beck would become just the fourth Blue Devil in program history to notch 30+ singles and doubles wins in the same season.  Beck is 19-1 in dual match singles play and 16-1 in doubles.

The honor marks the third time a Blue Devil has been named ACC Player of the Week this season.  Beck received the honor on Feb. 14, while Cameron Morra was selected Jan. 31.

The Blue Devils will close the regular season on Friday, April 14 at 3 p.m., with a road match at North Carolina.  The winner of the contest will claim the ACC regular season title.
