Badgers defeat Hawkeyes to extend hot streak to 10

MADISON, Wis. –  The Wisconsin women’s tennis team now has 10-straight wins after defeating Iowa, 4-0, today, March 29, inside Nielsen Tennis Stadium.
With 10 straight wins, the Badgers are on their longest win streak since the 1995-96 season, where they recorded a program-best 11-straight wins.
At No. 3 doubles, Taylor Cataldi and Rosie Garcia Gross breezed through their set taking down the Hawkeyes 6-2. With UW’s No. 2 dropping, the point was in the hands of Maria Sholokhova and Alina Mukhortova. They came out on top of the battle, 6-4.
Cataldi was the first to finish for the Badgers, clinching her sets, 6-3, 6-1. She is now on a winning streak of 4 at No. 3 singles. Playing until clinch, Sholokhova was the deciding factor. She took down her opponent, 6-4, 6-4.

Cataldi/Garcia Gross def. Schmidt/Vishwase: 6-2

Alina Mukhortova retired Schmidt: 6-3, 3-6

Taylor Cataldi def. Pokorna: 6-3, 6-1

Xinyu Cai retired Kranholdt: 7-5

Mehra retired Ariel Johnson: 6-4

Rosie Garcia Gross def. Matthews: 6-2, 7-5

The Badgers will host Nebraska on Sunday, March 31 inside Nielsen Tennis Stadium. Doubles will begin at noon with singles to follow. Admission is free.
