Alabama Women’s Tennis Alums Alexa Guarachi and Erin Routliffe to Compete in 2023 US Open

FLUSHING MEADOWS, N.Y. – Former Alabama tennis standouts Alexa Guarachi and Erin Routliffe will open doubles play at the 2023 US Open, which is being played at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing Meadows, N.Y. Guarachi and teammate Monica Niculescu will play Wednesday morning approximately 11:20 a.m. CT with Routliffe and her doubles partner Gaby Dabrowski opening tournament action Thursday morning at approximately 10 a.m. CT.

Guarachi and Niculescu will play Sophie Chang and Alycia Parks in round one Wednesday, as the duo currently sits 3-2 in match play so far this year with their most recent win in April. Meanwhile, Routliffe and Dabrowski are set to make their first US Open appearance just a week after taking down the No. 1 doubles team in the world. The two will compete against Lauren Davis and Anastasia Detiuc Thursday morning.

Routliffe and teammate Dabrowski dominated the court during the first round of the doubles bracket. The doubles duo will move on to round two and will face Fang-Hsien Wu and Lin Zhu. Dates and times for round two are to be determined.

Guarachi and Niculescu fought hard but fell in the first round of the doubles bracket to Sophie Chang and Alycia Parks. Guarachi will continue to compete in the mixed doubles with teammate Andres Molteni on Friday, Sept. 1.
