STANFORD, Calif. – Returning home for the first of four consecutive duals at Taube Family Tennis Center, Stanford men’s tennis tallied a 7-0 shutout over UNLV. The Cardinal improves to 7-4 on the season.
The Cardinal led early with two wins in doubles. Samir Banerjee and Nishesh Basavareddy scored a 6-1 triumph in the second position, while Aryan Chaudhary and Harsh Hemang Parikh picked up a 6-3 win on court three to secure the doubles point.
Stanford took five of six first sets, and clinched the match in rapid succession on the top three courts. Within moments of each other, Max Basing and Samir Banerjee closed out second-set shutouts for straight-set wins on courts two and three, while Nishesh Basavareddy was close behind with the clinching point in the top slot, 6-2, 6-1.
The Cardinal added a trio of wins on the back courts, with Kyle Kang winning in straight sets and Neel Rajesh and Nico Godsick earning victories via a third set tiebreak.
Stanford returns to the court on Sunday, March 10 at 1 p.m. against USC. The match will include food giveaways, a raffle, and a charity drive for Second Serve.
