Virginia Men's Tennis | No. 5 Virginia Hosts NCAA Regional Matches

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. –  The Virginia men’s tennis team (24-4) opens play at the 2023 NCAA Men’s Tennis Team Championship by hosting the Charlottesville Regional Saturday and Sunday, May 6-7, at the Virginia Tennis Facility at the Boar’s Head Resort.

The matches are scheduled to be played outdoors. Please monitor Virginia’s social media accounts for any weather-related changes.

TICKET INFORMATION

  • $5 for general admission and $3 for students with a valid ID per day
  • Ages 2 and up are required to have a ticket
  • Tickets will be available for purchase online, over the phone, or at the Bryant Hall ticket office and can be picked up at the courts

MATCH INFORMATION

  • The matches will be covered in the Cracked Racquets Cross Court Cast on their YouTube Channel
  • Individual court streams will also be available on VirginiaSports.com
  • Live scoring will be available for all of the matches

 

NOTING THE CAVALIERS

  • Virginia brings a 16-match win streak into the tournament. Last year, the Cavaliers had won 17 matches in a row heading into the NCAA tournament
  • Virginia has not lost an outdoor match this season
  • This is the third straight year that UVA earned the ACC’s automatic qualification into the championship
  • Chris Rodesch has won his last 10 singles matches. The MVP of the ACC Championship is 24-6 in singles this season with a 15-1 record on the No. 1 court. He has four victories this year against players ranked in the top five of the singles rankings
  • Rodesch earned a 9-16 seed in the NCAA Singles championship, his first time being seeded in the tournament and his second time earning a spot in the field. He is No. 9 in the updated singles rankings
  • Iñaki Montes earned invitations to compete in both the doubles and singles championships. Montes and Ryan Goetz earned a 5-8 seed in the doubles tournament and are No. 8 in this week’s rankings
  • Montes is ranked No. 26 in the ITA singles rankings
  • Goetz won the clinching points for the Cavaliers in both the ACC semifinal and championship matches. Goetz is 8-1 in his last 10 singles matches with a 24-5 singles record. He picked up his 20th dual match win of the year, posting a 20-3 record this spring
  • Goetz has 20 wins in singles and doubles, going 21-7…
