Alabama Women’s Tennis Sends Three to ITA All-American Championships

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Three Alabama women’s tennis players open competition this week at the ITA All-American Championships in Cary, North Carolina. Ola Pitak kicks things off in the singles pre-qualifying round set to start at 10 a.m. CT Saturday, while Loudmilla Bencheikh and Petra Sedlackova begin play in the singles qualifying round on Monday.

Sedlackova and Pitak will also compete as a doubles team in Monday’s qualifying round. Qualifying match times will be announced at a later time.

The Players

• All three student-athletes are coming off an impressive season
• Bencheikh and Sedlackova were selected for the NCAA Singles Championships
• Bencheikh was named First Team All-SEC and Sedlackova was named to both the SEC’s second team and all-freshman team
• Bencheikh finished the season ranked 66^th nationally in singles after competing at the No. 1 spots all year with 15 overall singles wins and 11 wins in dual matches
• Sedlackova finished the year ranked No. 68 in singles and put together a team-leading 23 singles victories which included a 16-3 dual-match record
• Pitak recorded 13 wins at No. 2 singles for the Tide on her way to a 16-10 overall record
• The graduate student led the Crimson Tide to its first win over a top-10 program since 2015, clinching the deciding point in a three-set battle on court two against 10^th-ranked Georgia

ITA All-American Championships

• The tournament features 96 of the best singles players in the country, in addition to 48 of the best doubles pairings
• Singles matches will be best two out of three sets with no-ad scoring
• Pre-qualifying and qualifying doubles will play an eight game pro set with no-ad scoring, tiebreak at seven games all, while the main draw will play two sets with a 10-point match tiebreak in lieu of a third set with no-ad scoring
