2023 Men's Tennis All-ACC Honors Announced

GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) – Wake Forest’s Melios Efstathiou has been selected as the Atlantic Coast Conference Men’s Tennis Player of the Year and highlights the 2023 All-ACC Teams.

The honors, announced Monday, were determined by a vote of the league’s head coaches.

Duke’s Pedro Rodenas was named the Freshman of the Year, and the Blue Devils’ Ramsey Smith was selected as the Coach of the Year.

Efstathiou, currently the No. 2 ranked player in the ITA singles top-25, has accumulated a 21-4 dual singles record for the 2022-23 season. The Limassol, Cyprus native ended his regular season on a five-match win streak, recording an 11-2 record over ACC opponents. Through the ACC Championship, the senior defeated the No. 13, 49 and 58 ranked players in the country at the No. 1 position and led Wake Forest to its seventh ACC semifinal appearance in the last eight years.

Rodenas leads the Blue Devils with a team-best 24-2 dual singles record and after registering his seventh win over a ranked opponent, now ranks No. 46 in the country in the ITA top-25 rankings. The native of Madrid, Spain, closed out the regular season with 10 consecutive wins over league opponents at the No. 2 slot.

Smith earns his first ever Coach of the Year nod as Duke climbed to No. 11 in the latest ITA rankings and posted a 20-6 overall dual record with an 11-1 conference record this season. The Blue Devils reached the ACC Men’s Tennis Championship title match for the first time since 2012, riding a nine-game winning streak. Duke has registered seven wins over top-25 opponents this season with Smith at the helm.
