SEATTLE —

The 2023-24 men’s tennis season opened up in the win column today, thanks to junior Dzianis Zharyn, who won his season opener in the ITA All-American Championships qualifying rounds in Tulsa. Zharyn will look to win twice more to reach the tournament’s main singles draw.

Ranked 91st in the fall preseason singles rankings, Zharyn took on Penn State’s Miko Eala, who was an All-Big Ten Second Team selection last year. Zharyn rolled to a 6-1 first set win, then down 1-2 in the second set, he won four games in a row, and served out the second set, 6-3.

Tomorrow Zharyn will face Mario Martinez Serrano from Troy University.
