SEATTLE –

Juniors Cesar Bouchelaghem and Dzianis Zharyn are at a point that no Huskies have reached since 2005, as they are into the doubles quarterfinals at the ITA National Fall Championships. The Dawgs had their second straight set victory in as many days at the Barnes Tennis Center this evening, and are now one of eight teams left vying for a national title.

The ITA Fall National Championships are the second of three national individual tournaments on the college tennis calendar. The event replaced the ITA National Indoor Championships in 2017. The only other Huskies to reach the quarterfinals came in the previous incarnation of the tournament when Daniel Chu and Alex Slovic made the final eight in 2005. In singles, Clement Chidekh made the semifinals two years ago.

Today, Bouchelaghem and Zharyn upset one of the four No. 5-8 seeds, Koons/Suresh of Wake Forest. They posted a 6-2, 6-4 victory in under an hour.

Tomorrow, the Huskies will play a pair from TCU, Chan/Maxted, who upset the No. 1 seeds in the first round. A time for the match has not yet been announced.
