Zharyn, Bouchelaghem Crack Doubles Top-10

SEATTLE – Washington’s top doubles tandem of juniors Dzianis Zharyn and Cesar Bouchelaghem officially reached Top-10 status today, becoming just the third UW men’s pair to crack the Intercollegiate Tennis Association’s national doubles rankings top ten.

Zharyn (Gomel, Belarus) and Bouchelaghem (Pallud, France) were ranked No. 12 most recently, before climbing up two more spots to No. 10 in the newest rankings, out today.

The two are 9-3 as a duo in the 2023-24 season, including a run to the semifinals of the ITA National Fall Championships last November. They are 3-1 in dual matches so far at the No. 1 spot, including a win over then-No. 9 Tudorica and Grevelius of South Florida.

They are the first Dawgs to reach the Top-10 since 2005, when Alex Slovic and Daniel Chu had a program-high No. 5 doubles ranking. The only other pair to reach the Top-10 was Eric Drew and Robert Kendrick, who climbed to No. 9 during the 1999 season.

Washington’s most recent Top-10 player in singles was Clement Chidekh, who earned the No. 1 ranking during his final season in 2022, finishing at No. 14 overall that year.

The Huskies (3-3) are on the road for a third consecutive week this week, facing a second-straight Top-25 opponent when they travel to face No. 18 San Diego this Saturday, Feb. 10, at 12 noon.
