PULLMAN, Wash. (July 24, 2024) – The Intercollegiate Tennis Association recently announced the 2024 Division I Women’s ITA Scholar-Athletes and All-Academic Teams, with Washington State Tennis earning the team honor along with six individuals being named Scholar-Athletes.
As a team, the Cougars posted a 3.68 grade point average for the year, marking the 18th-straihgt season WSU has earned the honor.
For the 2023-24 season, senior Fifa Kumhom, juniors Hania Abouelsaad and Elyse Tse, sophomores Eva Alvarez Sande and Yura Nakagawa, and freshman Martina Markov received ITA Scholar-Athlete honors.
This year’s honor marks the third award for Tse, second for Alvarez Sande, Kumhom and Nakagawa, and first for Abouelsaad and Markov.
To be named an ITA Scholar-Athlete, student-athletes must have a grade point average of at least 3.5 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year and be listed on the institutional eligibility form. For teams to receive the ITA All-Academic Team award, programs must have a team grade point average of 3.2 or above (on a 4.00 scale).
