Women's Tennis Visits Desert for First Pac-12 Road Trip


The No. 26 UCLA women’s tennis team (8-5, 3-3 Pac-12) hits the road for its first Pac-12 action away from Los Angeles Tennis Center when it visits No. 45 Arizona (14-9, 1-4) Friday and No. 30 Arizona State (12-5, 2-3) Saturday. The Bruins are coming off a home sweep of Colorado and Utah, while the Wildcats and Sun Devils suffered defeats at California and Stanford. Each match is scheduled to begin at 12 p.m. PT.

UCLA registered its second 4-0 conference win in as many days, dispatching of Utah April 1 at Los Angeles Tennis Center. Fangran Tian turned in her second clinching result of the season. Anne-Christine Lutkemeyer and Sasha Vagramov also logged singles victories for the Bruins. All three players also picked up doubles wins. UCLA blanked Colorado one day earlier. Kimmi Hance earned a straight-set clinching victory for the Bruins. Tian and Vagramov added similar singles results. Hance and Tian logged two-win days, also proving victorious in doubles play.

UCLA VS. ARIZONA, ARIZONA STATE

UCLA women’s tennis is 69-8 versus Arizona. The programs most recently met March 11, 2022, when the Bruins defeated the Wildcats by a 4-0 score at Los Angeles Tennis Center. Vanessa Ong clinched the victory. Elysia Bolton and Kimmi Hance collected the other singles wins. Each was also victorious in doubles play. Arizona took two singles first sets, but both matches were left unfinished. UCLA is 62-18 against Arizona State. On March 12, 2022, the Bruins prevailed in a 4-1 decision over the Sun Devils at LATC. UCLA needed a comeback to secure the day’s first point before building a 3-0 advantage in singles play. Abbey Forbes clinched the overall win. Bolton and Ong, who teamed for the come-from-behind victory in doubles play, also won individually. Patricija Spaka was triumphant for ASU.
