Women’s Tennis Unveils 2022 Fall Schedule

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Opening up the month of August, Wake Forest women’s tennis has revealed its fall schedule for the 2022-23 school year, announced by the program on Tuesday (Aug. 2).

“I’m excited about our fall slate of tournaments,” said head coach Jeff Wyshner. “Being able to host the Carolinas Regional Championships again this year will be a highlight of the fall. The tournament at Furman always features more than a handful of ‘top 25’ teams, so it is always a great and challenging way to start our year, and then we’ll certainly be gearing up to perform our best at the two ITA National Championship events. With our combination of returners and newcomers, these events will definitely give us the type of challenge we need to work towards getting better.”

Action begins in mid-September, with the Demon Deacons partaking in Furman University’s hosted ‘Debbie Southern Invitational’ (Sept. 16-18). A week later, the team will travel to nearby Greensboro for UNC Greensboro’s fall invitational.

The yearly Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) All-American Championships headline the first week of October, held in Cary, N.C. Wake Forest standouts Anna Brylin and Brooke Killingsworth seized momentum at the All-American Championships last fall, ultimately capturing the title and becoming the first duo in program history to achieve such a feat.

The Deacs hold one tournament on their own grounds from Oct. 13-17, bringing in visiting teams for the ITA Carolinas Regional Championships. Less than two weeks later, they will travel to Elon University for weekend competition. Fall play wraps in early November at the ITA Fall Nationals, taking place in San Diego, CA.
