Women's Tennis Releases Fall Schedule

STARKVILLE – Mississippi State women’s tennis team is gearing up for another exciting season by unveiling their fall schedule.

MSU will have up to six events to compete this fall in effort to have several players qualify for the ITA Fall Championships in San Diego, California Nov. 4-7.

“We are looking forward to our fall tournament season,” said head coach Daryl Greenan. “We have more new players than returners, so it will be interesting to see what type of results we produce. I look forward to getting to work with each player on their games and seeing their progress.”

The Bulldogs kick off the fall slate at the Furman Fall Classic in Greenville, South Carolina on Sept. 16-18. From there, selected players will travel to Cary, North Carolina to take part in ITA All-Americans Oct. 1-9 and then head to Baton Rouge, Louisiana for the ITA Southern Regional Oct. 13-18.

Individual student-athletes will participate in the Roberta Alison Invite in Tuscaloosa, Alabama Oct. 28-29.

MSU will be hosting the John Cade Invitational on the weekend of Oct. 28-30. Teams participating in the event will be announced at a later date.

State has four players returning from last season including All-SEC selection Emmanouela Antonaki, who earned 22 singles record last spring and five victories over ranked opponents. Joining Antonaki is rising seniors Alexandra Mikhailuk, Maddie McKee and sophomore Alessia Tagliente.

Greenan and associate head coach Sachin Kirtane will use the fall to get acquainted with five new Bulldogs that will be joining the roster. Mississippi State signed three transfers – graduate Gia Cohen from Georgia Tech and sophomore Emily Surcey from Arkansas State and sophomore Maria Rizzolo from Minnesota.

The Bulldogs also brought in freshmen Sydney Hrehor of Georgia and Dharani Niroshan of Canada as members of the 2022 signing class.

“We welcomed six new members to our program this year,” Greenan said. “That means a majority of our team consist of new players, which is rare. We think highly of each and every one of them. We are excited to work with them and we know they have all come to our program fired up and ready to work!”
