Women's tennis recognized in ITA Regional awards


TEMPE, Ariz. – Virginia Tech women’s tennis was well-represented amongst the ITA Division I Women’s Regional Awards list announced on Tuesday, as two Hokies claimed individual honors, along with the team as a whole. 
 
Özlem Uslu was named the ITA Rookie of the Year for the Atlantic Region, while Katie Andreini earned the Cissie Leary Sportsmanship Award. The team was recognized as the Atlantic Region’s ITA Community Service Award winner, as well.
 
Uslu wrapped up her freshman campaign, which saw her make a push to the second round of the NCAA singles championship, ranked No. 51. Throughout the season, she picked up six ranked wins, including a top-10 victory over No. 7 Carol Lee of Georgia Tech.
