IOWA CITY, Iowa – The Penn State women’s tennis team (5-14, 4-5 B1G) fell in match against No. 61 Iowa (10-10, 5-4 B1G), 4-0.
The Blue and White will compete again on Friday, April 19 against Illinois at 3 p.m.
DOUBLES
The Hawkeyes struck first and grabbed the doubles point.
At No. 2, Olivia Dorner and Yvonne Zuffova fell in their match to Barbora Pokorna and Pia Kranholdt, 6-3.
Jordina Cegarra and Alina Lebedeva evened out the matches by winning their match against Marisa Schmidt and Nikita Vishwase, 6-3.
At the top doubles spot, Sofiya Chekhlystova and Karly Friedland lost a tough fought match to Daianne Hayashida and Vipasha Mehra, 7-6 (7-5) to ultimately drop the doubles point for the Nittany Lions.
SINGLES
Iowa won three singles matches to the win over Penn State.
At No. 1, Sofiya Chekhlystova lost her match to Daianne Hayashida, 6-3, 6-3.
Olivia Dorner fell in her match to Marisa Schmidt, 6-2, 6-0.
Karly Friedland dropped her match against Vipasha Mehra, 6-0, 2-6, 6-0.
Jordina Cegarra’s, Yvonne Zuffova’s and Alina Lebedeva’s matches were all left unfinished.
