Women’s Tennis Falls to Kentucky, 4-1


LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Penn State women’s tennis team fell in their first match of the regular season on the road to Kentucky, 4-1. 
 
DOUBLES
 
The Wildcats struck first by taking the doubles point. Olivia Dorner and Karly Friedland defeated Kentucky’s No. 25 ranked doubles pair, Ellie Eades and Lidia Gonzelez, 6-1.
 
However, the Wildcats took the next two doubles matches to clinch the point. Danielle Alamo and Alina Lebedeva fell in a close match to No. 36 Makayla Mills and Elizabeth Stevens, 6-4. 
 
Sofiya Chekhlystova and Deanna Lasorda faced a loss in a tough fought match versus Zoe Hammond and Julia Zhu, 6-4.
 
SINGLES
 
The Kentucky women’s tennis team clinched the win by collecting three singles matches. Alina Lebedeva fell to Zoe Hammond, 6-3, 6-1.
 
Karly Friedland lost her match to Lidia Gonzalez, 6-2, 7-6 (7-2). Danielle Alamo fell 6-0, 6-0 to Ellie Myers.
 
Sofiya Chekhlystova tallied Penn State’s only singles win on the day against Elizabeth Stevens, 6-3, 6-2.
 
Olivia Dorner’s and Deanna Lasorda’s matches we both left unfinished.
