Women’s Tennis Falls to Columbia on the Road


NEW YORK, N.Y. – The Penn State women’s tennis team fell 6-1 in a match on Saturday to Columbia.
 
DOUBLES
 
Columbia struck first by taking the doubles point. Deanna Lasorda and Yvonne Zuffova fell in their match to Winta Tewolde and Rachelle Rimondini, 6-1.
 
Karly Friedland and Olivia Dorner dropped their match to Anna Zhang and Sophia Wang, 6-2.
 
SINGLES
 
Danielle Alamo fell to Natacha Schou, 6-2, 6-0. Deanna Lasorda dropped her match versus Clarine Lerby, 6-2, 6-1. 
 
Columbia was able to clinch the match with Yvonne Zuffova’s loss to Anna Zhang, 6-3, 6-3.
 
Alina Lebedeva fell in her match against Gayathri Krishnan, 6-3, 6-4. Olivia Dorner fell in a tough fought match to No. 116 Julia Haynes, 4-6, 7-5, 10-5.
 
Karly Friedland won the only match for the Nittany Lions on the day. She defeated Winta Tewolde, 4-6, 7-6 (10-8), 10-3.
