Women’s Tennis Concludes the Second Day of USD Intercollegiate Invite


SAN DIEGO – The Utah Women’s Tennis team was back on the court for the second day of the USD Intercollegiate Invitational. Utah has two players participating in the tournament, Madison Tattini and Katya Townsend

 

Utah opened the day with doubles. Tattini and Townsend went head to head with Kansas State’s Floretine Dekkers and Rozalia Gruszczynska. The Utes were able to defeat the Wildcats, 6-2, for their first victory of the day.

 

Tattini took on Rosanna Maffei in singles and lost 6-3, 6-0. Townsend battled it out with Vanesa Suarez from Kansas state to clinch Utah’s second win of the tournament. She defeated Suarez, 6-2, 6-0. 

 

Tattini and Townsend will be back on the court tomorrow for the third day of the USD Intercollegiate. At the same time, their teammate, Kaila Barksdale, debuts across the country at the ITA All-American Championships in Cary, NC.
