CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Six members of the Virginia women’s tennis team will be competing at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association’s first national tournament of the year, the ITA Women’s All-American Championships, being held Oct. 1-9 at the Cary Tennis Center in Cary, N.C.
In singles, freshman Annabelle Xu, sophomore Melodie Collard and junior Sara Ziodato will begin play on Saturday (Oct.1) in the Prequalifying tournament. Grad student Julia Adams and sophomore Elaine Chervinsky will open play on Monday in the qualifying tournament. Senior Natasha Subhash has secured a spot in the main draw and will begin play on Wednesday..
In doubles, Adams and Xu will compete in qualifying on Monday. Subhash and Chervinsky are in the main draw.
Since 1983, the ITA Women’s All-American Championships have featured the nation’s top NCAA Division I players and have been a pioneer in women’s college tennis. The event has created milestones that over the years have directly influenced the popularity of women’s collegiate tennis.
Live streams of the matches will be available. Cracked Racquets will also be providing a Crosscourt Cast of the main draw matches beginning Oct. 5.
