EVANSTON, Ill. – Wisconsin men’s tennis wrapped up its 2023-24 season in the Big Ten Tournament on Thursday afternoon. Down a player, the Badgers lost to the Northwestern Wildcats, 1-4. UW’s Colin Beduhn claimed the Badgers’ lone point, a singles victory over Northwestern’s Max Bengtsson.
In doubles action, Wisconsin was forced to forefeit at No. 3 due to injury. The Wildcats claimed the doubles tally with a 6-1 victory by Greyson Casey and Presley Thieneman.
In singles play, Northwestern collected a quick point at No. 6 with UW being forced to forfeit. Colin Beduhn battled Northwestern’s Max Bengtsson to a victory in straight sets, claiming a 6-4, 6-2 victory to earn the Badgers a point.
However, Northwestern was able to tally victories in straight sets at both No. 3 and No. 4 doubles to earn the Big Ten Tournament first round victory. At No. 1 singles, Wisconsin’s Michael Minasyan had forced a third set with a 6-4 second-set victory. That match was left unfinished.
With the conference tournament loss, the Badgers finished the 2024 campaign. Graduating seniors Jason Hildebrandt, Gabriel Huber and Mihailo Popovic will move on after contributing plenty both on and off of the court for the Badgers.
