Wildcats Tally Three Ranked Wins in Victory at Colorado


BOULDER, Colo. – Arizona women’s tennis posed its third conference win of the season on Friday, taking down the Buffs 4-3.

The Wildcats took the doubles point easily, not giving up a single game on either winning court. No. 71 Reece Carter and Brandelyn Fulgenzi made quick work of their match, defeating Aya El Sayed and Pia Rebec, 6-0. Teja Tirunelveli and Kayla Wilkins clinched the doubles point for the Cats with a 6-0 win of their own over Ema Bubalo and Anya Nelson on court three.

In singles play, No. 101 Carter tallied a straight-set win over El Sayed by a 6-2, 6-1 score. Minutes later, Tirunelveli put the Cats one win away from clinching the match with a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Rebec.

Colorado got on the board next with a 6-1, 6-4 win by Elys Ventura over Wilkins on court two.

Fulgenzi put the match away for Arizona, defeating Alexandra Abyasova 7-6(7), 6-4.

Play continued on the remaining courts, both of which Colorado won. Mila Stanojevic defeated Ostrzygalo 6-2, 3-6, 6-2 while Betina Tokac defeated Midori Castillo-Meza 6-7(3), 6-2, 1-0 in a win by retirement. 

Arizona returns to action Sunday, April 14 at 10:00 a.m. MST at Utah.
