CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The Virginia women’s tennis team opens the fall portion of its schedule by hosting the Wahoowa Invitational tournament Friday through Sunday (Sept. 15-17) at the Virginia Tennis Facility at the Boar’s Head Resort.
The Cavaliers opened the tournament by winning six singles matches and two doubles contests on Friday. Freshman Blanca Pico Navarro opened her collegiate career with a victory in singles, downing Isabella Dunlap of Iowa State 6-4, 5-7, 10-7. Freshman Zara Larke picked up a singles win against Hayley Glen of James Madison, 6-4, 6-2, as well as partnering with Natasha Subhash for a doubles win.
Players from Virginia, James Madison, Iowa State, Maryland, Penn State, Princeton, West Virginia are competing as individuals in singles and doubles matches. Matches start at 10 a.m. on Saturday and 9 a.m. on Sunday.
Virginia players will be in action at 1 p.m. on Saturday and noon on Sunday.
