Women’s Tennis Opens Tournament Action – Women's Tennis — Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets

GREENVILLE, S.C. – Georgia Tech women’s tennis opened its fall tournament slate on Friday at the 36th annual Debbie Southern Furman Fall Classic. The Yellow Jackets saw wins from Ruth Marsh and Kate Sharabura.

The tournament started with two rounds of doubles and one round of singles action. Marsh and Sharabura got things rolling in doubles action, splitting a pair of matches. The Yellow Jacket duo dropped their opening match, but rebounded with an 8-6 win over Irina Cantos Siemers and Alessia Cau of Ohio State.

Three Jackets took the courts in singles play. Sharabura picked up a win early in the singles sessions, defeating Ohio State’s Audrey Spenser, 7-6 (4), 6-3. Freshman Meera Jesudason made her debut donning the White and Gold, dropping a hard-fought match to Elise Mills of South Carolina, 7-6 (3), 6-3. Rounding out Tech’s singles matches was Marsh, who fell to Anna Parkhomenko of Alabama, 6-3, 6-0.

Action resumes on Saturday with one round of doubles and two rounds of singles play. The tournament is being played at the Mickel Tennis Center.
