CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The Virginia women’s tennis team opens the fall portion of its schedule by hosting the Wahoowa Invitational tournament Friday through Sunday (Sept. 16-18) at the Virginia Tennis Facility at the Boar’s Head Resort.
The Cavaliers opened Friday with three wins at doubles. In singles action, Natasha Subhash topped West Virginia’s Tatiana Lipatova 6-0, 7-6 (3). Sara Ziodato won 7-5, 6-1 against WVU’s Momoko Nagato and Melodie Collard returned with a 6-3, 6-0 win against Auburn’s Anastasia Astakhova. Grad transfer Julia Adams also won her Cavalier debut with a victory against West Virginia’s Kendall Kovick.
Players from Virginia, Old Dominion, West Virginia, NC State, Illinois, Auburn, LSU and Princeton will be competing as individuals in singles and doubles matches.
There will be three waves of matches each day. On Friday and Saturday, matches will begin at 10 a.m., 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. On Sunday, the matches will start at 9 a.m., 12 p.m. and 3 p.m.
Virginia players will be in action at 1 p.m. on Saturday and noon on Sunday.
Live scoring will not be available for the matches, but court video streams will be live. Fans are welcome to attend in person. Results will be posted on VirginiaSports.com at the conclusion of play each day.
