CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. –  The ITA Atlantic Regional Men’s Tennis Championships will be contested Wednesday through Monday, Oct. 19-24 with Virginia serving as the host institution.

The Virginia Tennis Facility at the Boar’s Head Resort will be the primary location with some matches being played at the Snyder Tennis Center as well as the indoor courts at the Boar’s Head Sports Center.

The Intercollegiate Tennis Associations’ regional championships include singles and doubles tournaments. The regional champions and finalists will earn invitations to compete at the 2022 ITA National Fall Championships, being held Nov. 2-6 at the Barnes Tennis Center in San Diego, Calif.

Iñaki Montes, Chris Rodesch, Jeffrey von der Schulenburg, Ryan Goetz and Alex Kiefer will begin play in the Gold Draw for singles on Saturday, Oct. 22. Ty Switzer will play in the Silver draw which begins on Thursday, Oct. 20. Bar Botzer and Douglas Yaffa will exclusively be playing doubles.

Goetz was the 10th player in UVA program history to win the singles title at this tournament in 2019. He joined Huntley Montgomery (2000), Dominic Inglot (2007-08), Jarmere Jenkins (2009-10), Harrison Richmond (2012), Ryan Shane (2014), J.C. Aragone (2016) and Aswin Lizen (2017) on the list of Cavaliers who have all won the singles title.

Montes was the runner-up in singles in last year’s regional with Montes and Goetz doubles finalists.

Players from Bucknell, Delaware, Duquesne, Georgetown, George Mason, Howard, James Madison, Liberty, Mount Saint Mary’s, Navy, Old Dominion, Penn State, Radford, Richmond, Saint Jospeh’s, Temple, VCU, Willanova, Virginia Tech and William & Mary will also be competing.

Neither live scoring nor live video will be available for the matches. Scores will be updated on the ITA website.
