Virginia Men’s Tennis | Top-Seeded Virginia Opens ACC Championship on Friday

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. –  The Virginia men’s tennis team (21-4, 12-0 ACC) begins the postseason by competing at the 2023 ACC Men’s Tennis Championship at Cary Tennis Park in Cary, N.C.

The Cavaliers earned the No. 1 seed in the championship and have a double-bye into the quarterfinals. The Cavaliers will face either 8-seed Miami (15-9, 5-7 ACC) on Friday at 3:30 p.m. in their opening match.

TOURNAMENT SCHEDULE

• Quarterfinals – Friday, April 21, 3:30 p.m.
• Semifinals – Saturday, April 22, 2 p.m.
• Final – Sunday, April 23, 2 p.m.

MATCH INFORMATION

• Live scoring will be available for all of the matches
• Live court streams will be available for Friday’s quarterfinal match
• ACCNX broadcasts will be available for Saturday’s semifinal match and Sunday’s championship. ACCNX is available to stream through the ESPN app. It is available through participating TV providers that carry ACC Network

NOTING THE CAVALIERS

• The Cavaliers are ranked No. 8 in this week’s ITA team rankings
• The Cavaliers went 12-0 in the ACC, their 16^th ACC regular-season title and their 12^th undefeated conference season
• Virginia has won 38 straight matches in ACC play, going 12-0 each of the last three seasons, and 45 straight matches against ACC opponents that includes tournament play and other matches that did not count towards the conference standings
• Virginia is on a 13-match win streak. UVA has not dropped a match since Day III of ITA Indoors against Ohio State on Feb. 19
• Chris Rodesch repeated as ACC Player of the Week, earning the honor for the fourth time this season and sixth time in his career
• Rodesch picked up his third top-10 singles win of the season with a victory against No. 9 Andres Martin of Georgia Tech on Sunday.
• Rodesch has won his last eight singles matches and finished conference play with a 9-1 record
• Rodesch remained at No. 10 in the ITA Singles rankings
• Alexander Kiefer went 10-0 in singles in ACC play
• Iñaki Montes comes into the tournament having won his last seven completed singles matches. Montes is 8-1 this season at No. 2 singles
• Ryan Goetz is 17-3 in dual matches with a 13-2 mark at No. 4.
• Goetz is 21-5 in singles this season, his fourth 20+ win season in his career
• Montes and Goetz each went 9-1 in ACC doubles and were 7-0 as a tandem in conference play
• Jeffrey von der Schulenburg leads the team with 23 singles victories. He is 13-3 at the No. 3 court
• Måns Dahlberg posted a 7-1 mark in his maiden ACC campaign
