Vanderbilt Women's Tennis | Dores to Travel to San Juan

Opening Serve: The Vanderbilt women’s tennis team will travel to San Juan, Puerto Rico, to compete in the San Juan Invitational from Oct. 28-30.

Competing Schools: Vanderbilt, Michigan, Florida State, Wisconsin and Auburn.

About the Commodores: The Commodores feature three student-athletes ranked in the ITA Preseason Top 125 for singles – Anna Ross (No. 40), Holly Staff (No. 64) and Anessa Lee (No. 76). In doubles, the pairing of Ross and Staff earned a preseason ranking of No. 7.

Last Time Out: On the first day of the ITA Ohio Valley Regional Championship, the Dores went undefeated in seven singles matches and three doubles matches. The second day of competition saw the doubles team of Marcella Cruz and Sonya Macavei advance, defeating a duo from ETSU. In singles, Macavei, Anessa Lee, Holly Staff and Celia-Belle Mohr also advanced. Cruz and Macavei continued their winning streak and advanced to the semifinal round where they fell in a doubles match to wrap up play on Sunday. Lee advanced to the semifinals in singles where she fell in the third set to end her time at the regional championship.

Up Next: The Vanderbilt women’s tennis team will travel to San Diego, California, to compete in the ITA National Fall Championships on Nov. 3-6.
