Vanderbilt Women's Tennis | Dores Go Head to Head Against Georgia, Tennessee

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — The Vanderbilt women’s tennis team is scheduled to play No. 6 Georgia at 4 p.m. on Friday afternoon in Athens. The Commodores will then travel to Knoxville to face Tennessee at noon on Sunday.

Last weekend saw the Dores (11-7, 6-5 SEC) fall in tight matches on Friday and Sunday against No. 13 Florida and No. 18 South Carolina, posting a 4-3 loss in both.

The Dores are ranked No. 30 in the latest ITA rankings. Ranked nationally in singles, Célia-Belle Mohr holds the No. 8 spot and Bridget Stammel is 79th. Also ranked nationally in doubles, Mohr and partner Anessa Lee are 33rd; Valeria Ray and Holly Staff are ranked 83rd.

Georgia
The Bulldogs are 15-4 overall and boast a 10-1 record in the SEC. Last weekend, Georgia added two wins to its record. The Dogs defeated Mississippi State 7-0 on Friday and were victorious 4-0 against Ole Miss on Sunday. In the latest ITA rankings, two of Georgia’s doubles teams claim national spots, in addition to five student-athletes ranked in singles.

Tennessee
The Volunteers are 15-6 overall and 7-4 in conference play; last weekend they won both of their matches, posting a 4-0 victory over Ole Miss and going 6-1 against Mississippi State. Four Volunteer doubles pairs are nationally recognized this week in the ITA rankings, as well as one student-athlete in singles.

Up Next: The Commodores travel to Athens next week to compete in the SEC tournament.
