LOS ANGELES – Oregon’s Quinn Vandecasteele advanced to the finals of the ITF M15 in Los Angeles on Saturday.

Vandecasteele strung together six consecutive wins over top competition. In the first round of the qualifying draw, he secured a straight-set 6-2, 6-1 win over Lui Maxted. Maxted finished 16-5 in the dual season for TCU last season and advanced to the semifinals of the NCAA Tournament.

The second round saw a 6-4, 4-6, 10-8 battle with Giacomo Revelli, who was named to the All-Pac-12 second team last season at UCLA. Vandecasteele advanced to the main draw and faced Italian Lorenzo Claverie, defeating Claverie 4-6, 6-4, 6-3.

Former first team All-Pac-12 member Nathan Ponwith was next for Vandecasteele. Ponwith was 14-9 at the No. 1 spot for ASU in 2021, but was no match for Quinn, who advanced to the quarterfinals with a 6-3, 6-3 straight-set win.

In the quarterfinals, Vandecasteele faced former Pac-12 Singles Player of the Year Stefan Dostanic. The USC Trojan finished the season ranked No. 22 in the ITA singles rankings. Looking for his fifth win in a row, Vandecasteele went on a tear and came away with a 6-3, 6-1 win.

The semifinals featured a matchup with Ryan Seggerman from the University of North Carolina. Seggerman was second team All-ACC last season, but fell in straight sets to Vandecasteele, 6-1, 6-4.

Vandecasteele faces Omni Kumar in Sunday’s final.
